High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Best burritos I've ever had. we have a work lunch there every Monday. They have a new special every day. Their fish, chicken, and slow cooked steak are all amazing. Recommended this place to countless people and I've always gotten much thanks for it. Never been disappointed. You won't either.

I went here based solely on the yelp reviews...gotta say I was let down. The burrito was average, kindof bland. "Style" options communicates that you don't have a style of your own. Imo Typically with this type of burrito place I expect unlimited chips and salsa. Just be warned that is not the case here. You get a handful of chips and a 2oz salsa. They did give us more chips but it felt... managed. The frozen margaritas were very sweet! Both the strawberry and the orginal. No sugar or salt (respectively) on the rim of the plastic cups. Over all not a "bad" experience just not the value for the price. $40+ for my family. I expected to pay $25 and would have willing.

Without a doubt this is my favorite restuarant! BDS always delivers super fresh, inexpensive, high quality food. With the tempeh option on the menu, this place is also one of the few catering to vegetarians. My favorite order is the tempeh taco salad chipotle style with half lettuce and half cabbage. My husband prefers the steak burrito baja style. Several family members agree that shrimp tacos are the best option. That's what makes BDS something special: there's something for everyone and it is always delicious; you can't go wrong at this restaurant. I eat here pretty much once a week and have never been disappointed. We always bring family here when they visit and everyone enjoys the local artwork on the walls, the outdoor seating with all the flowers, and the nights with live music.

Fresh ingredients, made to order... Step by Step: 1. Order your Burrito, Taco, Quesadilla, Nachos, or Taco Salad (in a Flour Tortilla Bowl). 2. Pick your protein: Steak or chicken (both are marinated & slow cooked for up to 6 hours), Tempeh (Ginger marinated & grilled), Shrimp or Fresh Fish--straight from the Gulf, (both rubbed with house seasoning & blackened)...today's variety was flounder. 3. Choose a style: Baja (cabbage & pineapple salsa & more), Southwest (romaine, hot salsa, cheese & more), Chipotle (red cabbage, red salsa, Chipotle & more), BBQ Bite by bite: savor the flavors, taste the great blend of spices and herbs, plan when you're coming back....it's worth it. Seating indoors or outside on patio. Friendly, courteous wait staff with cheerful attitudes. A great find for us.

Yum yum yum in my tummy. We were at the beach all morning and starved. Decided to look to my fellow Yelpers. 4 1/2 rating for a burrito place? How good could it be? Amazing. First you pick a style (burrito, tacos, quesadilla, taco salad, or nachos). Then you pick protein (steak, chicken, tempeh, shrimp, fish (market)). Then you pick sauce (Baja, chipotle,BBQ, or southwest.) I got the fish (mahi) quesadilla, chipotle style with the veggies on the side. I LOVED IT! I never, ever expected to order a fish quesadilla but I was feeling adventurous since I've never seen it before. The quesadilla comes with a few chips and a side of salsa. The salsa has a perfect spice. The quesadilla has queso and shredded cheese. A cheese-lovers dream. My boyfriend got the steak burrito chipotle style. The steak is shredded and flavorful. He let me take a bite....but only one. The flavors melded well together. The girls (staff) were so cute and helpful! Very cheery. They ask you if you've ever been --- to be helpful to tourists. She guided me through the menu. Overall, service great, food delicious, and seating is minimal but enough.

My husband and I love this place. Food is always fresh and tasty. Our favorite place to go to when we are hankering for some yummy tacos and a beer.

If I could eat here every day, I would! We were thinking it might be similar to Qdoba but holy hell, Burrito del Sol puts our beloved Qdoba to shame. Everything is made fresh to order, so it did take about ten minutes to get our food which was fine. My chipotle chicken tacos were TO DIE for. I'm not lying when I say I probably could have eaten six. The chipotle sauce is spicy, which I love. Hubby loved his southwest tacos. They also offer grilled fish, shrimp and tempeh as nice alternatives to the typical proteins. If you're in the area, stop by. A delicious, wallet-friendly meal!

A must-visit every time I visit Ft. Walton! So delicious and truly local. They don't use microwaves - and their fish is fresh! Their chipotle sauce is delicious. It is a tad bit on the spicy side. I also really enjoy the southwest style - the quesadillas are amazing, but I always go for the taco salad which is in the most delicious shell bowl I've ever tasted!

Stopped in for lunch & got 3 different style tacos. All were good. Got a chicken, a shrimp, and a steak. Staff was really friendly and helpful too. Place was packed at lunch time.

Oh this place really hit the spot on a hot summer day! The outside is very fun with a brightly painted colored building and a nice shaded outdoor patio. I love how you can order at the counter - it makes the process a lot quicker and you can pay right away. I ordered the chips and queso to start with and then I ordered the fish tacos "baja" style so they came with red cabbage, pineapple salsa, monterey cheese, baja sauce, cilantro, and fresh lime. The place was pretty packed but luckily we found a table outside that a group was just leaving. We got our chips and queso pretty quickly and the queso was very good - nothing too funky but enough to have a little kick. The tacos were very good! Had just the right amount of the baja sauce and lime to make it fresh. It was just the right portion as well. My only complaint would be was there was sauce on our table that was empty so an employee walked by and we asked if she could refill it and we didn't get it until we were getting up to leave, which was probably over half an hour later.

This place is pretty much Taco Bell's mature older brother. The food is simple, yet the ingredients and preparation are executed at a level way above that of the popular fast food relative. Diners will not be disappointed by this place. The parking lot is large and there is plenty of overflow parking on the side streets. Once inside, there are plenty of tables and booths as well as overflow seating on the sidewalk. The place is simple and utilitarian. You order at the counter and are given three main choices to make: meat, style (taco, burrito, quesadilla, etc.), and salad/sauce (baja, southwest, etc.). This simple recipe allows for many combinations without overwhelming the cooks and patrons during the ordering process. Once the meal is concocted, you get to enjoy the perfect mixture in all of its glory. I usually go with the quesadillas (under $10). The baja salad comes with pineapple, red cabbage, and some baja-style dressing and it adds a freshness to the cheesy quesadilla. The quesadilla itself is made with real meat and cheese and and a perfectly grilled tortilla. The higher rate ingredients are evident once you take a bite. Each meal comes with chips and salsa as well, so you don't need to order extras even though it is on the menu. Overall, this place is very good. They take a simple food, mix it with a simple ordering process, and spit out a great tasting meal. I would highly recommend Burrito del Sol.

We got take out at Burrito Del Sol while we were in town for a wedding. Headed here after we saw the recommendations on Yelp. First and foremost, it was delicious. I got the shrimp nachos and they were extremely good. They used the white melted cheese...Mmmmm. My fiancé got a chicken burrito Baja style and liked it. He was a fan of the pineapple salsa. Service was quick and good. There seemed to be a lot of locals in there, too. Would recommend getting it to go like we did if you're in a hurry.

My wife and I love a good fish taco, but not many places do it right (especially in our home state of Kansas) but BDS is in the running for the best we have ever had. I searched Yelp for the best Fish Tacos in Destin, FL but got no help from Yelp or the Internet in general, so I figured I better write a review. We got the Fish Tacos with Baja Sauce and 2 Carona's. So. Freaking. Good. ASK FOR AND USE THE HOUSE HOT SAUCE!! Easily a 5-star joint.

  • J F.

Awesome fresh food. Chicken Burritto Baja style and fish tacos Baja are delish! The kids meals are a great size too, with the quesadillas being half of a large tortilla. Cute and quaint atmosphere.

Outstanding food, fast service! The queso is wonderful, you have to try it. Prices are great and the quality is top notch.

  • D C.

The food is super fresh, though it's a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Four meals, including one kid's meal, was $60. The atmosphere is laid back and it's a nice break from the beach restaurants where very expensive (and very fried) seafood is de rigueur.

Shut up?! When we first moved here, I kept hearing good things about Burrito del Sol. I shrugged it off, thinking it wouldn't satisfy. Picky eater? Yes, I confess now! Gave it a try and oh man once you get a taste, you won't go back. Ha! I was going once a week while preggers ordering my uje(usual): Shrimp Quesadilla, chipotle style pressed in and with that fountain drink, y'all! And yay for military discount! Yeah!

  • Oualid Z.

I am really glad I ate there tonight! The food is so delicious, and the staff were so friendly; we walked in at 8.53 pm, and ordered for dine in, and they stayed till we finished eating. I will definitely go back to you place innthe future.

Cool little place. Ambiance is hip, menu is simple and delicious, close to the beach. I had a chipotle quesadilla with shrimp. Best of the table. Really quite good. Lots of legit fresh veggies as well. The only awkward thing is the fact that you counter-order (which is cool) but then they graciously come back around to your table to ask if you would like anything else. If you do, then you have to go back up and wait to pay. It's an off hybrid of a counter order and table service, but they guys were super cool and very helpful and kind. One of our little troopers wasn't feeling so hot, and didn't order much, and one of the guys went out of his way to make her feel good. Very sweet. Some really legit artwork for sale on the walls as well. Check my pics for one I really liked...

Have come here a couple of times and the food was pretty good. I wasn't blown away by anything and I'm not sure if Burrito Del Sol is much better than the similar restaurants in the area. I got burritos both of the times I went, steak both times. The steak is delicious, just to start. The first time I got the chipotle style but the chipotle sauce seemed to drown out the actual taste of the meat, which was the best tasting part. The next time I got the Baja style with some pineapple salsa. This one was much better! Overall it's a nice little place, was never crowded either of the times I went and I did go around dinner time. It was good food but overall nothing I was blown away by. Better than your average burrito spot though!

Found this place here on yelp and trusted the reviews. They didn't steer me wrong. Very glad we came! Even my picky eating kids are happy. I had the steak quesadilla with the BBQ style. Wow! Fantastic flavor! Not huge portions but plenty enough to fill you up without leaving with that roll-me-out-the-door feeling. We got the chips and queso as a starter and it was very good too. Everything looks clean and well maintained, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Will come back and would recommend to others! Enjoy!

The best "fast food" fish tacos you'll ever get, with fresh gulf fish cooked well and served with fresh, tasty ingredients. I opted for Baja Style and corn tortillas but I'm confident everything would have been good - even the chips and guacamole were quite good. This place is on the main drag through Fort Walton Beach which can have traffic jams but it's not far from my lodging & beach choice on Okaloosa Island. After having marginal food the previous day from Kiwi's Tiki Hut at the Four Points hotel I decided to get in the car and drive a couple minutes to check out a different and hopefully better lunch option. Well worth it!

My go-to for when I'm craving tacos! I love getting their fish tacos! They have other great dishes too. The variety of dishes isn't much, but I think that's what makes their food good. They specialize in burritos, tacos and nachos. You customize the meat and sauces from their list. What I like the most about this place is the fresh tasting ingredients. Staff is also always friendly!

  • Sallie W.

The queso is good. That is the only thing good I can say about it. expensive for Mexican food. When you pay , they show you tip options right after you order. I want to eat the food and see how the service is before I give them my gratitude. That is too presumptuous for my taste. I would rather go to Tijuana flats up Eglin pkwy where the food is always good and I'm always eager to throw in a tip in the tip jar.

Soooo goood!!!!! I came in one day and the special was a Chorizo taco. It was amazing! They should have that on the menu all the time. Probably best they don't...I may end up eating there every day then.

Good food, very excellent atmosphere. Think I would return if I were in town and try it for a second go round. they did mess up our order, but were very apologetic about it and fixed it right away! loved the burrito w/ chicken chipotle style. the chips and queso was amazing, the chips were salted and the cheese were just right. really glad that we came to this restaurant. There was no wait, so you shouldn't have to wait in line long, Happy Eating!

To be honest, the first time I ate here it was take out during dinner rush and the food was disappointing. I gave it another chance, and have recieved consistently good food since. The atmosphere is very hipster cafe, and the music is too loud to enjoy sometimes. The food is delicious and very realistically priced for the product delivered. I particularly enjoy the Taco salad which is flavorful and made generously with mostly purple cabbage. The meat has its own flavor cooked into it presumably from marinade or slow cooking, and the sauces and salsas are very complimentary.

This place never seems to disappoint. Fresh ingredients, huge portion sizes, very helpful staff, all around pretty deliciousness. The environment is very loud however, so if quiet is what you're seeking, keep moving.

We are from Texas so we know tacos. These are solid tacos with a fresh Florida twist. Very nice. Enjoyed the black beans also. Prices are reasonable. The service was excellent. Wish I had tried the fish tacos.

Little taco shop on main strip in Fort Walton. Great service. Freshly made food. I had the shrimp salad without the shell, Baja style. Good. Just a tad dry. Had to add salsa. Son had Amberjack tacos, Baja style. Sweet and a little spicy. Husband had shrimp nachos, southwestern style. Everything was good. We recommend this place.

What's to say other than...yum! Cool and clean little joint. Service is solid. Food was really good. Price was right. I had 2 shrimp and 1 steak taco. Don't think you can go wrong with any option. I loved a sign that I saw saying they are microwave free...and you could tell in he food. I've seen enough Kitchen Nightmare episodes to know the value of this. Kudos for a job well done all around.

If you don't feel like Hot Heads, Tijuana Flats, one of the little hole-in-the-wall Tex-Mex/Mexican joints around here, or even taking the mad drive down the 98 to Destin for Chipotle, this is always a good option. Staff: 5/5. Can't complain! Location: 5/5. Blink and you miss it right there on the main strip. I love how their menu is so simple but at the same time you can still find ways to make it your own. Now what gets me is the surfy decor and while you wait, they normally have some sort of ocean-themed movie playing on the wall. Food: 4/5. I've had them twice and haven't been disappointed. As I said above, the layout they have to make your burrito is designed to be simple yet setup to make it your own. Both times tasted fresh to me, no fillers. But don't just come for the burritos - their salsa is nice! Pricing:4/5 . Puts the wallet in a bit of a pinch but it could also be worse. Overall: 4/5. Nice place, prime location, delicious product. However if you fancy a burrito on a Sunday afternoon that doesn't taste like fast food, sorry.

I was in the Fort Walton Beach area for a little bit of business and pleasure. I had a one hour break from business so I looked up popular lunch spots on Yelp and found out about Burrito del Sol. Nice corner location. Beautiful weather, so the doors were open. NCAA tournament on the television. Prior to heading there, I looked up the menu online. So I kind of already knew what I wanted. I like the way the menu is set up. You pick a tortilla, the protein you want, they style Baja, Chipotle, Southwestern or BBQ. I went with the Quesadilla with chicken, Baja style. What makes each style different is the different ingredients mixed in with the protein. With Baja you get cilantro, pineapple salsa, fresh lime, red cabbage, Baja sauce & Monterey cheese. The tortilla was cooked perfectly. Not under making it cold or overcooked, making it burnt. The cilantro and pineapple salsa stuck out to me. A lot of good flavors, made for a memorable dish. Along with the quesadilla you get chips with salsa. I felt the salsa needed a little more salt and cilantro. But the whole lunch was worth it and I will definitely be back again next time I am in this area.

This place is super yum. I'm usually not a quesadilla fan but I had it here with steak and chipotle style. So so good. The queso is pretty delicious too. We went for early dinner on a Friday and it was empty. Perfect! Skip Moe's and try this place!

This was such a disappointing experience. The food was good but I didn't appreciate the attitude I got when I asked if the tacos I ordered could be made with corn tortillas instead of flour despite telling them that it was due to a gluten allergy. Although the menu states that you have your choice of flour or corn tortillas for the tacos, the girl taking my order never asked which I wanted, and by the time I realized this, my order was done. While I realize that this is frustrating, I don't feel like it was my fault. As they say, when you assume... Anyway, the counter girl was so resistant to the restaurant remaking them, I actually thought I was going to have to pay for something I could not eat. She then told me that they would do it for me THIS TIME, but in the future, I really needed to let them know ahead of time. She could have saved the speech because I already knew I would never return before having a single bite of food. (I should also mention that the restaurant was completely dead; my order was ready so fast because it was literally the only one that the kitchen had to make, so it didn't seem like a huge burden, especially since it was their fault in the first place.) On top of everything else, I got super sick from the food. The corn chips are apparently fried in the same fryer used for the flour tortilla shells for the salads. I get that it's my allergy and I have a responsibility to make sure that what I eat is safe, but when you have just remade my order because of an allergy to flour, a heads up that my side dish could be laced with the thing I am allergic to would have been nice. I have literally never had to worry this much about food in a Mexican restaurant so I guess my guard was down. Lesson learned. That said, the chips were good. The "salsa" (more like pico de gallo) was also good but they only give you enough for about a third of your chips so you might want to request more. I got the spicy pork tacos (the daily special), which I didn't feel were actually that spicy, but were delicious. Their homemade hot sauce was really good (and very hot!) It's too bad their customer service isn't as high quality as what they serve.

Good food, but little disappointing given the great reviews. Got the Chicken tacos (baja, southwest and chipotle) and steak burrito; all were good, but none of them were incredibly good. However, it is a nice, clean place with good service. It seemed like the creamy sauces on the tacos contained most of the flavor, bleh.

The shrimp taco was recommeded and I loved it. My niece had the steak nacho (big portion) and she was licking her fingers at the end of the meal. Lol. I think the price was a bit pricey but the food was amazing.

Had the shrimp tacos with baja style. It was great!! I like the restaurant. This was the special and recommended by the staff. Very friendly.

I loved the food and the service. Great value for your money. This is from someone who grew up on homemade Mexican food. Good stuff! Always specials. Try the queso!

My husband loves this place. Each day there is a taco special - which is their specialty. Fish is extremely fresh. Ambiance is relaxed.

I have been here 3 times and have really enjoyed it each visit. It is a little diff type of ordering, in that you say first what you want tacos, burrito, nachos, etc. Then the protein, then the style. It is a very friendly atmosphere and very tasty food. I will deff. go back when I get a hankering for tacos!

Stopped in for lunch on our last trip to the beach. Restaurant was located in the older down town area so I assumed parking would be a problem. It wasn't. There was plenty on the side street next to it. I loved the menu for Burrito del Sol. It's simple... pick an item (burrito, quesadilla, salad, etc.), pick a protein, and pick a style. I had a chipotle steak quesadilla and my husband had a Baja chicken quesadilla. Both were very good. Not your typical quesadilla. Sure, there was meat and cheese, but it also had a wonderful slaw and sauce stuffed in there. Our food came out quickly and the service was excellent. Very friendly staff. I cannot wait to visit again.

Super pleasant experience. Had a shredded steak burrito and all ingredients were tender and fresh. The staff had great attitudes and helped explain any question I had. Thank you to the employee that hooked it up with some house made hot sauce. Prices were reasonable. To put things into perspective, this place blows Chipotle out of the water. I will be returning soon.

This place is so good! Fresh food and friendly service at a reasonable price. Craft beers on tap, cool atmosphere, what more could you ask for?

One would think on vacation you would want to try new places and surely wouldn't repeat a restaurant- WRONG! We dined in at Burrito del Sol with toddler in tow with us and had a fabulous experience. My husband said he's certain he will never eat a more fresh and delicious burrito than the catch of the day(mahi) burrito Baja style. We all really enjoyed it. The service was excellent: food arrived on time and no dirty looks at us for bringing a toddler with us. I thought I may have left my phone there so I called and the manager went and checked our booth and even outside near where we were parked for us. Genuine friendly people. Prices are very fair for quality of food and amount you get. We even returned two days later and were just as pleased!

We ordered a chicken baja burrito, kids cheese quesadilla & kids bean and cheese burrito. Got our food to go & it took longer than expected. Loved the house sauce & pineapple salsa! All the food tasted freshly made. Yum.

Hip decor, great staff. Menu is simple but tasty. Baja shrimp taco salad was good. I'm stingy with 5 stars but this place is a solid 4.5.

The guacamole was great! I would go back just for that. They had a beer that I had never heard of, think it was called pacifico, really good. We ordered chicken and fish tacos. They both were lacking, but maybe because the style they were cooked. I want to go back and try the nachos since the guacamole was so good.

Excellent atmosphere (although limited parking and interior seating.) As great as the atmosphere is, the food is even better. I frequently stop here and I've yet to have a bad meal. From taco salads, to burritos, they're all great and fresh. Chicken, steak, or fish...doesn't matter. Always delicious!

SO GOOD! We found this place while visiting the area and loved it! One person in our group is a vegan and she loved her meal - especially the vegan ranch. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this place! Yummy!

Everyone who has even the slightest connection to Mexico knows that Burrito del Sol is not the place to come for authentic Mexican. But this is the panhandle of Florida so when did authenticity ever come into play? This location in Fort Walton Beach is new and pretty nice inside. Tastefully decorated with a cool Dia de los Muertos mural on the wall. The food is decent, especially since it's pretty cheap, they have a military discount, and the cashier has iPads for taking payments. Wow, you feel all catapulted into a new era of technology just from buying a shrimp quesadilla!! Beers are available. They also have cute outdoor seating with romantic little lights. Too bad it's facing a street and a parking lot but hey, I don't want to hear you whine.

We were in town for Spring Break 2015 and decided to give Burrito Del Sol a try after reading many good reviews. We were not disappointed. As mentioned, it is a similar concept to Chipotle but much better. Not only are you choosing what type of entree and your meat selection but also the "style" which determines the toppings and sauces included. In our order we had nachos, burritos and tacos done southwestern style and also tacos Baja style. They were all great! Also the kitchen prepared them and the wait staff delivers which again is a big step up from Chipotle's counter service. The wait staff was very attentive and offered suggestions for other cuisines to try while in town. A+ and we will stop again when visiting the Emerald Coast.

We were at Capriccio Cafe and Brooks helped give us some recommendations about where to go to see dolphins on our trip. He said he was the owner of a burrito place across the bridge and they had a west coast feel. We just so happened to be renting a kayak from Liquid which was conveniently across the street from Burrito del Sol (coincidence? likely not). We loved just about everything about this place and if we lived nearby, this would be a regular spot. 1) You cannot beat the beer prices. You can actually get a PBR for less than a soda. And, their selection of brews is expansive, but not expensive. 2) The menu is simple and easy to read, but that does not mean their food tastes that way. 3) The food was genuinely tasty and I could tell everything was as fresh as it could get. Thanks for the tips, Brooks and we'll definitely get another burrito whenever we're back in Destin.

What a sad day. Sad. Did I mention it's a sad day? I've been here several times and enjoyed their food, especially the fish tacos. Today we came in just after opening (11:02a). The guy who went in just before us was ordering, but the second person behind the register was quick to open the second lane to help us out. I stepped up, began to order, and then looked down and to my left. Yup, sitting on the counter... a roach. Sorry, but that's a deal breaker. That and they guy behind the register didn't seem surprised. Obviously, we walked out before we could snap a quick pic, or even complete the rest of the order. What a sad day. Update: Based upon my review I was contacted by one of the owners. It's obvious they take the matter seriously, and care about their business and the satisfaction of their customers. In my mind, that means a lot, and one more star.

The Baja style tacos were amazing. Probably the best tacos I ever had. They make up for the guacamole which I found a little bland. Great experience overall!

So this is my first review and the reason for it is because the food was incredible and service just as equal (26 Jul 2014; 6 pm). For my job, I typically travel 2-3 weeks out of the month and have had crap food, good food, and incredible food. This was in the category of incredible. On vacation at fort walton beach and took a family of six (picky eaters) here based on previous reviews. I ordered the fish tacos (soft corn tortillas) chipotle style - fish of the day was amberjack. Dish comes with 3 tacos and a side of chips and salsa. Everything is absolutely fresh and tasty. Reminded me of some of the great fish tacos I've had in southern California. Other items ordered was the beef tacos for the eldest son - he absolutely loved it and he is the most finicky of the bunch. Oldest daughter ordered chicken tacos (chipotle) and also loved her meal. Wife and two youngest girls (8 & 6) shared a chicken quesadilla which was gone at the end of the meal. The wife also ordered a beef burrito chipotle style and finished 90% of it - it was pretty large (think Chipotle restaurant but I honestly think the ingredients are fresher here). Bottom line was taking a picky family of 6 to dinner and no to-go boxes needed. Overall bill was ~$50 for six. 3 taco meal depending on the protein / meat is $7-$8. Service was just as great if not better. The server was also the cashier - seemed like two people working the front, but she was all over it! We stayed about 30 minutes and she visited our table about 6 times; about 5 other tables she was waiting on at the same time. Absolutely awesome and super friendly and courteous (sorry I didn't catch her name). The inside was well decorated nicely and most importantly - super clean. As we walked in, the other patrons reminded me of a typical southern cali surf dive - super friendly people and relaxed but the difference being this place is super clean. I will be making this a usual stop on future vacations as I visit here once or twice a year for sun and relaxation. Family loved it as much as I did. Highly recommend.

Great food, good prices, nice staff. Well worth the extra money when comparing to your local Taco Bell! This business is located in the quant little downtown of Fort Walton Beach and service is pretty good. I'm ok with higher prices when the service and food match and this place does! Well worth your time and appetite!

Small but lovingly curated beer selection. Fantastic texmex or whatever you call this style. Friendly staff, quick service, and good god is that shrimp quesadilla great.

  • Nicole E.

I got a shrimp quesadilla chipotle style. It was amazing! All the food is less than $12 with a drink. The shrimp were large and fresh. It came with the chipotle salsa on the side and tortillas and salsa too. I put the chipotle salsa-like topping on the quesadilla and dipped it in sour cream. That was the best quesadilla I have had in a long time. The restaurant is simply decorated and casual attire with outside seating in the front. There were tacos, nachos, burritos, and quesadillas. Then you choose the meat which was shrimp, chicken, steak, or fish. Then the styles were such as baja, sante fe, and chipotle. They also served several sides and add ons. They served beer and wine, no liquor. It's small but so cute and has the best Mexican food in the area. I have been coming to the city a few times per year for a very long time. I will definitely go back each visit if they keep up the quality and price!!

I was home alone for the night and wanted a quick but tasty option for dinner. This was not it. My total wait time was between 30-40 minutes. I ordered a steak burrito southwest style and chips with queso. The food was satisfying but there was really nothing outstanding about it that would make me want to return and wait that long again. The burrito reminded me quite a bit of Chipotle, maybe just slightly smaller. The chips were mediocre. Didn't try the salsa, but the queso was mediocre as well. If you really want to try it, maybe go earlier (I was there around 7-8pm) or see if they allow you to phone in your order.

Everything here tastes healthy and fresh. Great selection of both bottled and draft beer to go perfect with your meal. Daily specials are always delicious and sometimes even have catch of the day or gator! Personally I get tempeh tacos or taco salad, SO GOOD!!! The Baja style is really good with anything, but I've heard southwest is tasty too. You can also call in orders which is great when you have a craving for this place, which I do-- often. Their homemade hot sauce is really good too, but slightly too hot for me to use very much of. Staff is friendly and the place is always very clean. Excellent atmosphere, beautiful art everywhere (you can also buy pieces) and usually a relaxing surfing or ocean-related video playing on the TVs. Also they play good reggae/alternative/indie music. You cannot go wrong here.

My family and I live in walking distance to Burrito Del Sol. We walk down at least once a week and eat here. Unlike the popular chain burrito places, Burrito Del Sol keeps their menu small and super fresh. I highly recommend the fish tacos with their fresh catch of the day.

    (5)
  • Joe S.

This restaurant literally has THE best food in town. I'm kind of a foodie and love this place more than anywhere in town. Locally owned and operated Burrito Del Sol offers quality ingredients cooked perfectly. Service is fast because you don't have to wait for a server, you just order at the counter and they bring it to whatever table (or booth) that you've chosen. Also this is the only place in town I know that offers tempeh as a protein option, I'm not a vegetarian or vegan I just love tempeh! Theirs is great too! The staff is always friendly and happy as well. Forget the chain restaurants and corporate lunch and dinner options. Spend your dining budget at a local source where you get quality in return as well as supporting local business.

This place is awesome. I have not had a single item here so far that I do not like. The other night we ate here and I had the taco salad. Surprisingly it was my favorite entrée thus far. They have a limited selection of beers and wine but their tasty food makes up for it. All the ingredients are fresh and give you the feeling you're eating *somewhat* healthy ;) My son is a super picky little eater. He always gobbles down his entire kids meal. My husband had the special (a sweet and spicy shrimp burrito) it was pretty much wonderful :)

  • Joseph M.

Wow. Fresh. Delicious. I had shrimp tacos, Baja Style on corn tortillas and my wife had amber jack fish tacos on flour tortillas. Both were unbelievably good. Even better with the house hot sauce. Thanks to Yelp for pointing out this great local place. Staff is super friendly with swift service.

  • Sudario W.

My first experience here was great! The place was small but had a nice dining area and the staff was friendly. The girl behind the counter told me abut the made to order menu. There were choices between the the style of tortilla (burrito, taco, or quesadilla), choice of meat, and what style (baja, BBQ, chipotle, or Southwest). One of the staff also came to the table to check on how we liked the food which was a plus. Recommended!

Came here for lunch and decided to try the tacos. I had two fish (fish of the day was tuna) and one tempeh. Tacos were excellent! So was Burrito del sol'a organic hot sauce. Service was very helpful and once the orders are all out, and there is noone in line they come around to check, and talk to you.

My husband and I came in earlier today because we were walking all over downtown fort Walton. And we came upon this place. It is a little pricy compared to other Mexican restaurants where you give them 10 bucks and they give you three plates of food and here you give them ten bucks and well it's only a small tray half way filled. But on another note the food is delicious and we will be coming back. And I would definitely recommend this little place to anyone... The staff was very nice and helpful. They were also patient when we were ordering. They even came to check up on us after they served us our food. Almost like an actual good Lenny's restaurant should do although sadly Lenny's seems to have gotten away from that. The building is very cute and very clean. And I really liked that they had seating inside and outside for you to choose.

  • Emily C.

The food was phenomenal and reasonably priced ... That's a winning combination. I had fish tacos, baja style. I normally don't like pineapple on savory foods, but it was perfect. My favorite part of this place? Amazing service! They were quick to recommend, came around several times to check on us, and anticipated our needs. Pretty amazing considering this is largely a self-serve restaurant.

Out family has eaten here a couple of times and the most recent was last month. The burritos are great! Everything taste fresh and taste really good! If you go here and don't like it then don't go looking anywhere else in this town for a burrito. This place has that local area flare to it and the service is good. I've gotten the steak and my wife has had the chicken and fish or shrimp. Anything we've ordered off the menu tasted great. The only draw back to this place is they are a bit pricey for a burritos.

This is a place that I noticed was getting great Yelp Reviews, but I was hesitant to try it, because I am not a Fan at all of "The Fast Mexican" Concept...Places like Moe's..Qdoba..Tijuana Flats..etc..trick you into thinking your getting a lot of food for your money, when in reality what your getting is a little bit of processed tasteless meat and a lot of beans and rice, which are the two cheapest foods in the world, all wrapped in a Tortilla...happily I can report Burrito Del Sol is the real deal and the food is tasty and plentiful....Burrito Del Sol is a quite simple concept as you go to the counter and select your Shell(Burrito...Taco..Quesadilla..Nachos..or Taco Salad)...pick the protein you want in it(Steak..Chicken..Tempeh..Fish..or Shrimp) and finally your style(Baja..Chipotle..Southwest..or BBQ)...they also have sides of Queso or Guacamole, if you desire either for your chips...they also have a surprisingly good selection of craft and regular beer available in bottles and drafts...the girl at the counter takes your order on an IPAD and gives you your total you owe, which is a little awkward, because you have to tip then as well before you have had any service.. when your order is ready, one of the girls brings your food to the table, and that is really the extent of their service ,so it makes the whole tipping thing even stranger...so far some of the things I have had that I would heartily recommend are The Chicken Quesadilla Chipotle Style...The Chicken and Steak Tacos Southwest Style and recently I had one of their daily specials, which was a Teriyaki Chicken Bacon Burrito which I got Chipotle Style....all the main courses I have had have been excellent..where Burrito Del Sol loses a Star is the little things...1)The Chips and Salsa are terrible...Chips are always cold and stale(Tostitos are better) and The Salsa is worse than any I have had from a Super Market or Ball Park..2)The Hot Sauces offered are laughable...they only offer a Bottle of Cholula or their Homemade Green Organic Hot Sauce which has the look..smell. and.consistency of the stuff that oozes out of you when you have an infected toe..just gross....BDS needs to do a reconnaissance mission to Tijuana Flats and check out their Salsa and Hot Sauce Bar which has about 10 to 12 different varieties and steal about six of them for their own use.....I know Chips..Salsa..and Hot Sauce are not that important to many people, but it's always been an important criteria to me for how I judge any Mexican Place and BDS definitely fails miserably in this aspect.and finally..3)The Soft Drinks are self serve which I don't mind ,but the cup size they use would have been considered small 30 years ago...they are using for their standard drink cup, the size cup most other places are using for when customers only order water...this makes it a seemingly non-stop session of going from your table to the coke machine when you are eating here...BDS just needs to use the standard 22 OZ and 32 OZ Cups that everyone has been using for their cups for the last 25 years...really my few complaints are minor and quite fixable and won't stop me from coming back often, because the food is good and the place has a casual hipster environment inside with murals on the wall...a couple TV's on the wall showing whatever sports is on..and rock music coming through the speakers...fortunately the only thing FWB has less of than Anti-Military People is Hipsters, so it has not been overrun by them...BDS is a solid 4 stars all the way and I feel quite confident in saying if Charlie Sheen is ever in FWB he will be here ranting at the customers saying "sorry dude I'm effen hammered" instead of doing it at The Taco Bell Drive Thru Line...definitely a place to visit if you get sick of the standard FWB Seafood Choices

My friend and I went here for lunch. The ladies at the counter greeted us right away and explained the menu. I ordered the amberjack soft tacos, Baja style and my friend ordered the chicken avocado soft tacos. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes. My friend took a bite and declared, "This is the best thing I ever ate!!!". Wow...really?...ever? Then, she said, "Well, it's definitely the best taco." To be fair, if you put avocado on anything, it becomes her favorite food but she was very impressed with the corn tortillas and said that they tasted like they were freshly made in house. I enjoyed my amberjack fish tacos but I wish they would have given me more (sweet/tangy/excellent!) mango salsa and the sauce was a little flavor-forward for my liking but a dribble of hot sauce balanced the flavors nicely. We both had a little trouble finishing our third tacos but powered through because they were so delicious. It would be nice if they sold the tacos individually. Two tacos and no chips would have been the perfect portion for me. We'll be back.

  • Karen R.

The Amberjack fish and gulf shrimp tacos were outstanding! Fresh and filling! The staff were pleasant and helpful. We discovered this place by the great reviews on Yelp and they were 100% accurate. The ONLY thing that prevented me from giving this spot a five-star rating....NO marguerites!!

    (4)
  • Anne R.

This place is fantastic! The food tastes so fresh and the flavors are great! We've been a few times, and the service is usually fantastic. We got the stink eye from a young blonde chick that worked there once, she was obviously more interested in loudly flirting with a group of guys at the next table than helping us. I can get over bad service one time if the food is worth it, and it is!

Killin' it!!!! I'm having a hard time trying not to eat here every day for the time I'm here.

This restaurant is a great addition to downtown. The menu is simple and fresh. Fantastic shrimp tacos and IPAs on tap. It is also a great place to take the kids. It is quick and the music is a nice contrast to being forced to watch cartoons or listen to the drone of an arcade at traditional "kid friendly" spots.

  • Valerie M.

Delicious fresh & some organic foods, love the atmosphere very funky, staff great, fun place to go and casual which I love. Thrilled with the fact that I can choose how a dish is served up depending on my hunger that day.

  • Robert W.

Nice place, good location, service was a little slow when we went. "Now Hiring" signs inside and outside should have tipped us off to that. Tried the chips and guacamole.... Meh. Guac lacked flavor, and salt. Was very bland. Chips were cold, almost tasted like store bought bagged chips. Fish Tacos, Baja style (Amber Jack was the catch for the day),really good. Fish was seasoned, cooked well, toppings and the sauce with the Baja style worked well with it. Shrimp tacos, BBQ style. Probably poor choice of us for ordering. Weren't that good. We will be back to try the burritos.

We LOVE Burrito del Sol! The food never disappoints & it fills you up without making you feel "fat full." You're just... full. The Taco Salad w/ Tempeh : Southwest style is my usual go-to. The Fish Tacos will always have a "Fish of the Day" in them, which is caught fresh from the gulf.

    (5)
  • Noelle N.

Was very disappointed ... I had read good things but feel ripped off! Can't believe I paid 15.00 for a huge pile of chips hardly ant meat on them. Add ons were pushed and overpriced. Not good!!!

  • Shaun H.

Think a high class at down Chipotle. The menu starts the same three step process with type, protein then style of soft. The food was excellent. We had both the Baja and southwest styles, very flavorful. Prices were very reasonable and very convenient before getting to our hotel.

  • Ewa G.

I live in the area and must say that this place is great. It has a relaxed atmosphere, the food has been fantastic every time I've eaten here. The hardest thing to do is decide what to get and what sauce to get on it. The chicken quesadillas are awesome, the nachos are huge and the fish tacos are the best I've had around here. Oh and we ordered queso but it took a little time cause they were making a fresh batch so they brought us an order of guacamole for free while we waited for the queso!!! The price is very reasonable and service is great. If you're in the Ft Walton area you need to give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

I love this place - I work in fort Walton so we are always trying to find a good place for lunch. This place rocks I have been multiple times and have not yet been disappointed. Took a coworker there the other day and he absolutely loved it he said it was the "best burrito he has ever had"

    (5)
  • Allison C.

Nice people. Cute place. Good music. Great vibe..... Bland, boring. Salsa was so watery and had absolutely zero flavor. Chips were inconsistently fried - some were extra crispy and some were chewy. I had read a review that said the tempeh tacos were really great, so I got them. Meh. I love cabbage, but this was overkill. Maybe having a bad lunch rush?!? My husband said that it tasted like the prep line had done all of the cooking and maybe missed following a recipe? I don't know if I'll return. Some of my other friends, with similar food tastes, said that their experience was more like mine and they won't be returning. Bummer! I was really looking forward to it!

  • Amber K.

Cute little place. If you're searching for authentic Mexican food, this isn't the place. But this is a good place to eat. I ordered the shrimp tacos Baja style and my husband had the steak burrito also Baja style. We enjoyed the Baja salsa. The menu is set us to choose a burrito, taco, quesadilla, nachos or taco salad, then a protein and style, which was cute to choose from.

The food is super fresh, though it's a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Four meals, including one kid's meal, was $60. The atmosphere is laid back and it's a nice break from the beach restaurants where very expensive (and very fried) seafood is de rigueur.

Yeah!

  • Sean N.

I am really glad I ate there tonight! The food is so delicious, and the staff were so friendly; we walked in at 8.53 pm, and ordered for dine in, and they stayed till we finished eating. I will definitely go back to you place innthe future.

Awesome fresh food. Chicken Burritto Baja style and fish tacos Baja are delish! The kids meals are a great size too, with the quesadillas being half of a large tortilla. Cute and quaint atmosphere.

  • Laura L.

This place never seems to disappoint. Fresh ingredients, huge portion sizes, very helpful staff, all around pretty deliciousness. The environment is very loud however, so if quiet is what you're seeking, keep moving.

This place is super yum. I'm usually not a quesadilla fan but I had it here with steak and chipotle style. So so good. The queso is pretty delicious too. We went for early dinner on a Friday and it was empty. Perfect! Skip Moe's and try this place!

Spend your dining budget at a local source where you get quality in return as well as supporting local business.

eh... Hipster/Trendy joint with decent nachos/tacos/burritos. Noting worth raving over.

Delicious fresh & some organic foods, love the atmosphere very funky, staff great, fun place to go and casual which I love. Thrilled with the fact that I can choose how a dish is served up depending on my hunger that day.

  • Dennis D.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
